Kijkduin lies on the 11 kilometre coastline of the Municipality of The Hague, and is well-known for its relaxed atmosphere. The Zuiderstrand of Kijkduin is one of the most beautiful beaches of the Netherlands and here you can find LARGO Beach Houses Den Haag.
The locals also call it the peaceful beach, because it's so quiet and clean. In summer, the Zuiderstrand is the perfect place to relax at one of the authentic beach pavilions; Habana Beach or Suiderstrand. Pull up a chair in the morning for a wonderful breakfast, and enjoy the sunset with a drink and nibbles in the evening. Let the salty sea air waft over you.
Besides relaxation, the Zuiderstrand is also the perfect place for water sports. There are two surfing areas where any surfer can find what they are looking for: between the Zuidelijk Havenhoofd and the breakwater 39, and between breakwater 35 and 36. For windsurfers there is a special area between breakwater 24 and 25, and an area for kitesurfers at breakwater 37 and between breakwater 23 and 25. At beach exit 10, there's also Kitesurfing School Scheveningen and at beach exit 1, there's Kitesurfing School BLOW, where starting surfers can have their first lessons.
Westduinpark, a protected nature reserve between Kijkduin and Scheveningen, borders on the Zuiderstrand. Westduinpark has a very diverse landscape, offering many hiking, biking, and bridle paths. The free-roaming, introduced Scottish Highland cattle can be admired from these paths. Westduinpark is ideal for having a change from the beach to another part of nature, and for exploring that actively.
On the north side of the Westduinpark lies Scheveningen, the most popular seaside town of the Netherlands. Like Kijkduin, Scheveningen has a long and wide sandy beach, and is known for its tourist attractions. The famous Scheveningen pier is the best known of these. The Pier is three hundred metres long and offers a range of restaurants, bars, outdoor cafés and bars, shops and attractions like the Ferris wheel, bungee jumping and zip lining. The pier is accessed from the Scheveningse Boulevard. The Boulevard is 2.5km long and is right next to Scheveningen's beach. It's perfect for a stroll while enjoying the lovely view over sand and sea. Here, right on the beach are many good restaurants, such as Peukie Beachclub, Mood Beach and Oceans Beach House. The best-known building on the Boulevard is the Kurhaus, a national monument where people come for a day of 'wellness', Gallery Bell’Arte, or a drink and bite to eat in the renovated restaurant.
The Hague, a beautiful city behind the dunes. The Hague is also called the heart of the Netherlands democracy, because the Dutch government is seated here. A few buildings are open for to the public to visit, such as the Binnenhof and the Ridderzaal. Paleis Noordeinde, the work palace of King Willem-Alexander, has an impressive facade, and is definitely worth a look.
The Hague has many more things that make it a special city. Here are two of the best-known museums of the Netherlands, Mautitshuis and the Gemeentemuseum, where impressive art collections are to viewed. There's also Panorama Mesdag, the biggest painting in the Netherlands at 120 x 14 metres, and Madurodam that represents the entire Netherlands in miniature. Both are attractions for the whole family to enjoy.
And, last but not least, The Hague is a good place for serious shopping. The Haagse Passage is one of the most beautiful surviving shopping galleries of Europe, where diverse exclusive boutiques are to be found. The Denneweg, once the antiques street of The Hague, is a charming chic street where more and more fashion stores open their doors. One of the best-known shopping precincts in the Netherlands is also in The Hague: the Noordeinde. In addition to its Palace, Noordeinde is best known for its characteristic fashion boutiques, art galleries and antique shops.
Sleeping right next to the beach, an original and unique experience. What's better than waking up with the sunrise and later enjoying the sunset on the verandah in the evening? You too can experience this in de Largo Beach Houses The Hague, situated on the Zuiderstrand. The Beach Houses accommodate four to five people. Nowhere else in the Netherlands do beach houses have so much space around them as here in Kijkduin. Enjoy the beautiful view of beach and sea, while you stay in a detached villa supplied with every convenience, and located in a quiet area.
